Treasurers Report

Balance $10,453

We are at 62% of budget

Profit level is >$190

All quarterly reports are submitted and up to date

38 e mails were sent to various ASQ treasurers to determine whether Pay Pal is a workable option for us. 16 responses were pro and 1 response was against and suggested a high cost alternative.  The agreement is we will go forward with establishing Pay Pal.  They get a fee of 2.9% plus $.30 per transaction.

We are still looking into a CD.

Program

Don reported that he has made arrangements for the March speaker as planned.  The speaker will send his bio.  Don will forward them to Penny, Steve Q. and Greg.  There next section meeting is March 24th and Peter Johnsen of Stanfordville Machine will speak on the relationship between quality and having a successful business, their recipe for success, how they achieve their goals, and how quality is in fact a key component in achieving success.

The April talk will be CAPA II by Bob Vidile. A follow up to the CAPA I talk he gave previously.

We are reminded that the section membership is also invited to the APICS April meeting at the same rate as APICS members. Their current talks are in line with Quality skills.

Rich Eckmann will be away for the March meeting and will give Don a check before he leaves.

Glenn will obtain a software copy of the comment card APICS uses.

Don and Greg attended the Engineers week joint meeting on February 16th. Attendance was good with over 200 planned attendees from companies, schools and organizations.  1.5 pdh credits were available for those needing it.  Don and Greg set up a table with ASQ displays, brochures and handouts including information on the coming human error prevention course.  In addition we took the opportunity to review quality tools and practices with the presenters and others.

Greg took no pictures as he busy on the committee for the event.  Don did and gave his chip to Greg at the EXCOM. Greg will download and forward those pictures to Steve Q. and Penny.  The E Week committee had a designated photographer who passed on a PDF file with embedded pictures to Greg.  Greg is trying to obtain the actual pictures files and will pass them on when he gets them and supply a blurb on the meeting.

Newsletter

Penny is away and Steve does not know the actual status of the newsletter. Greg will leave a message on her voicemail at work in case she checks in. The newsletter should contain the officer slate for publishing which was in last month’s minutes plus a notice of elections at the April section meeting.  Persons interested in being considered should contact Rich Petendree.

3. Update events page 2/03/2009
4. Update Engineers Week Page 2/05/2009. Finally, I did not receive any pix or commentary for National Engineering Week.... SO WE STILL DISPLAY THE DECEMBER MEETING STUFF

Education

The course is on. There are 8 paid attendees and two others registered to date. This meets the minimum requirements.

An agreement was made to offer special fees to certain member functions on a case by case basis.

Checks have already arrived and Rich E. has them. He will hold until the course commences or at least closer to the date.

We discussed possible weather impacts on the course. As long as the hotel is open and Ben (the instructor) is there the course will be held.

Glenn and Don plan to attend.  Steve mentioned an opportunity at a company where an error occurred with costly effects and to see if they are interested.

Lifecycle training offering

The University of New Hampshire contacted Steve B. about a course they are offering.  *Greg reminded that we are unable to share or give away any e mail information. Steve will send it to Steve Q. for posting on the Website.
